Rivet's robust estimates + underpayments tools lead to massive ROI

“The current list of underpayments I’m working on will pay for the tool by itself and that’s huge.”

Like many revenue cycle experts, Travis Seymour, contract management specialist at Starling Physicians Group in Connecticut, sought solutions to offer cost transparency and collect payment up front.

“I created a good patient cost estimates tool on my own,” Travis said, “using spreadsheets, drop down lists and formulas, that showed me the allowables for individual patients. But any kind of break in a formula would be a pain to fix.”

No matter how finicky, his solution worked. But Travis said he was surprised when he started using Rivet’s estimates tool. “With Rivet’s Estimates, the different rules that could break the formula are taken into account. It’s nice to have such a robust tool for patients.”

At Starling Physicians Group, Travis maintains 23 specialities, 35 physician groups and approximately 300 providers. Starling has it all: pulmonary dermatology, cardiology, nephrology, hematology, family medicine and many more specialty practices.

“It’s nice to have such a robust tool for patients.”

With all that Travis maintains, he said the second Rivet product he uses—Underpayments—is a solution that helps him in an exponentially easier and faster way, spot and verify underpaid claims.

Travis spent a good amount of time configuring Rivet up front, and continues to put in efforts to maintain Rivet, but said his return on investment is massive and expects his return to grow.

“The current list of underpayments I’m working on will pay for the tool by itself and that’s huge.”

Overall, Travis said, “It's been a really great tool to maintain our contracts and identify underpayments. It's nice that everything lives in one place, and I'm not going all over to find what I need or opening all these different spreadsheets. I have one central tool that I can track and monitor payments and move them into worklists depending on their completion status.”
