"Before Rivet, we'd work about 30 appeals a month.
With Rivet, I worked over 300 in 4 days."
Like any revenue cycle expert, Rivet customer "Dave" sought a more efficient way to manage denied claims (anonymity provided upon request). Dave, a revenue cycle and informatics manager at a midsize neurology practice, said the daunting list of denials he had before using Rivet has now all but disappeared.
"Before Rivet, we'd work about 30 appeals a month because we had other tasks that seemed to move the needle faster. Now that we have Rivet, I [alone] worked over 300 denials in four days. Incredible," Dave said.
Dave said he uses Rivet each day to work to work appeals in bulk. He logs into Rivet every morning and checks his denials filters, moves new denials to "in progress," and sends a quick email to the A/R rep to notify them of new cases to send for reimbursement. Dave's A/R rep uses Rivet with Dave to submit the appeals, change claim statuses, and track to resolution.
The time between when they receive the denial and send an appeal can be so fast, Dave said: "sometimes it's the same business day within Rivet."
Dave loves to deep dive into denials causes to, what he says, "answer the age-old question of 'is this a one-off issue or a larger issue?' And Rivet provides that answer immediately."
Dave went on:
"It's a great product. I'm just thrilled that we've stumbled upon Rivet and got in on it on basically the ground floor because it is just fantastic."
In fact, Dave said, "Rivet provides more than just answers. It offers a way to see your data in a manageable way without knowing SQL (programming language).
"Within an EMR," Dave said, "you want the keys to the kingdom on getting in and working denials with the SQL databases. With Rivet, you have the access to the SQL data and it'll let you program it in a SQL manner, but all without needing to know SQL. The GUI that you guys have is just incredible."
In this electronic medical record and dashboard world, Dave said that sadly, most products do the same thing. Thankfully, Dave said, Rivet's tool is different. "You need to look at how much you can customize your worklist, how much you can customize assignments, etc. Rivet offers the ability to absolutely do that. It just does and I'm a fan."
To anyone considering Rivet, Dave said: "Just look at the demo and ask your people (or even call me) to say what are your pain points?"
He explained, "One of our pain points was how many denials do we have all about CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement)? How can we address this so it doesn't happen again? And Rivet's tools absolutely answered that."
Though denials can still occur, Dave said that Rivet has changed the game for his practice so that when they do happen, Rivet is right there to help with current and future denials.
Dave's neurology practice has 59+ providers and 12 offices located in Indiana.
